Computational Aspects of Characteristic Mode Decomposition: An overview

Nearly all practical applications of the theory characteristic modes (CMs) involve use computational tools. This article is second in a series five on CM [1] – rid="ref2" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/> rid="ref3" rid="ref4" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">[4] . Here, we review general transformations that move CMs from continuous theoretical framework to discrete representation compatible with numerical methods. We also key concepts encountered across variety implementations. These include modal tracking, dynamic range, code validation, and techniques related electrically large problems.
